On-Page SEO: The Complete Checklist

On-page SEO is everything you control on the page itself: titles, headings, content, images, links and HTML signals. Done well, it makes a page clearly about one thing and easy for Google to understand. This checklist covers every element, with notes for Arabic and bilingual pages.

Title tag

  • Unique for every page, 50–60 characters, main keyword near the start
  • Written to earn the click: benefit, location, brand
  • For Arabic pages, write the title in Arabic; do not transliterate English

Meta description

  • 120–155 characters, summarises the page and includes a call to action
  • Not a ranking factor, but it affects click-through rate
  • Unique per page and language

URL

  • Short, descriptive, hyphen-separated; Arabic slugs are fine and often better for Arabic pages
  • Avoid parameters, dates and stop words
  • Keep stable; redirect if you change

Headings (H1–H3)

  • One H1 that states the topic
  • H2s for main sections, H3s for sub-points, in logical order
  • Use the questions people ask as headings where natural

Content

  • Match the search intent: informational pages explain; commercial pages compare; transactional pages convert
  • Cover the topic completely: definition, how it works, cost, process, FAQs
  • Length follows the question; no padding
  • Include related terms naturally; do not stuff keywords (keyword density is not a target)
  • Original, accurate, with sources for claims
  • Readable: short paragraphs, lists, tables

Images

  • Descriptive file names and alt text in the page’s language
  • Compressed (WebP), with width and height set to avoid layout shift
  • Lazy-loaded below the fold; hero image loaded eagerly

Internal links

  • Link to related pages with descriptive anchor text
  • Every important page reachable within three clicks from the homepage
  • Breadcrumbs with schema

Structured data

  • Article, Product, FAQ, LocalBusiness, Organisation, Breadcrumb as applicable
  • Must reflect visible content
  • Validate with Google’s Rich Results Test

Technical on-page

  • Canonical tag pointing to the preferred URL
  • Language and direction attributes (lang=”ar”, dir=”rtl”) on Arabic pages
  • hreflang between Arabic and English versions
  • Fast load and good Core Web Vitals

Featured snippets and AI answers
